About This Expression

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 is a sublime and luminous triumph of prestige champagne, standing as an enduring symbol of luxury, refinement, and visionary oenology. Named in homage to Dom Pierre Pérignon—the seventeenth-century Benedictine monk who served as cellarer at the Abbey of Hautvillers and pioneered fundamental winemaking techniques that defined the Champagne region—Dom Pérignon is produced exclusively as a declared vintage champagne. If a harvest does not meet the exacting standards of the Chef de Cave, no vintage is declared, preserving the unassailable integrity of the cuvée.

Produced in Épernay by Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon benefits from access to some of the finest Grand Cru terroir in Champagne, including historic plots in the communes of Aÿ, Bouzy, Verzenay, Cramant, and the historic premier cru parcels of Hautvillers. The 2013 growing season was marked by a cold, wet winter followed by a radiant, dry summer, culminating in a late October harvest reminiscent of legendary historic Champagne vintages. This late ripening allowed the grapes to achieve optimal phenolic ripeness alongside vibrant, crystalline natural acidity.

The cuvée is an artful, harmonious assemblage composed of approximately 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay. After secondary fermentation in the bottle, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 underwent a patient, ten-year maturation on its yeast lees inside the cool, subterranean chalk cellars of Épernay. Over a decade of undisturbed rest, autolysis transformed yeast proteins into extraordinary texture, fine effervescence, and complex aromas of brioche and toasted almond, before being disgorged with a modest brut dosage of approximately five grams per liter.

Poured into a tulip glass, Dom Pérignon 2013 displays a pale, sparkling gold with an ultra-fine, persistent bead of bubbles. The bouquet is complex and multifaceted, wafting with aromas of eucalyptus, mint, Mirabelle plum, apricot, orange blossom, and crushed limestone minerality, accented by toasted hazelnut and cardamom. On the palate, the champagne exhibits a silky, seamless elegance, balancing crisp citrus acidity with rich stone fruit, pastry cream, and smoky minerality, culminating in a saline, vibrating, and endlessly persistent finish.

Dom Pérignon 2013 should be served at approximately ten to twelve degrees Celsius in a white wine or tulip champagne glass rather than a narrow flute, allowing its expansive bouquet to open. It is an extraordinary gastronomic companion, pairing magnificently with caviar, fresh oysters, butter-poached lobster, or seared turbot.

This bottle is the ultimate benchmark of prestige Champagne, an iconic choice for weddings, anniversaries, and momentous milestones, and an essential treasure for any fine wine cellar.

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 continues to evolve with breathtaking poise in the cellar. Serving it in a generous white wine glass at ten to twelve degrees Celsius allows the delicate autolytic aromas of brioche, fresh almond, and crushed chalk minerality to expand fully. It is an extraordinary gastronomic wine, harmonizing sublimely with caviar, butter-poached lobster, seared sea bass, or roast squab with seasonal truffles, offering immense pleasure now with decades of cellaring potential ahead.
