About This Expression
Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut is the world's most iconic and celebrated non-vintage champagne, standing as a global ambassador of French luxury, celebration, and winemaking elegance since 1869. Created by the historic house founded in Épernay in 1743 by Claude Moët, Impérial was named in honor of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was a close personal friend of Jean-Rémy Moët and visited the estate multiple times during his imperial reign. Today, Moët Impérial is revered across the globe for its vibrant fruitiness, seductive palate, and elegant maturity.
Crafted in the heart of Épernay, Moët Impérial benefits from the most extensive vineyard holdings in the entire Champagne region, encompassing over one thousand one hundred hectares across hundreds of distinct crus. This unparalleled diversity of terroir provides the winemaking team with an extraordinary palette of base wines from which to assemble the signature Impérial blend year after year, ensuring remarkable consistency, brightness, and crowd-pleasing harmony.
Moët Impérial is crafted from a balanced blend of three core Champagne grape varieties: 30% to 40% Pinot Noir, which imparts structure and red fruit body; 30% to 40% Meunier, which provides roundness and juicy fruitiness; and 20% to 30% Chardonnay, which contributes elegance, freshness, and citrus acidity. The assemblage incorporates twenty to thirty percent specially selected reserve wines to enhance complexity and depth. The wine matures for twenty-four months on its lees in Moët's historic twenty-eight-kilometer network of chalk cellars, followed by three months of resting post-disgorgement.
Poured into a glass, Moët Impérial displays a sparkling straw yellow with greenish highlights and an energetic, fine bead of bubbles. The bouquet is bright and fresh, offering aromas of green apple, white peach, citrus blossom, fresh brioche, and roasted cereal. On the palate, it delivers a generous, lively mouthfeel combining the fleshy sweetness of white fruits (pear, peach, apple) with the fine, crisp bubbles of citrus, concluding in a clean, refreshing, and beautifully balanced finish.
Moët Impérial is best served chilled at eight to ten degrees Celsius. While legendary as a celebratory aperitif for toasts, it is also a versatile dining companion, pairing wonderfully with sushi, fresh shellfish, white meats, and mild cheeses.
This bottle is the quintessential universal gift for any celebration, a dependable luxury staple for home entertaining, and a timeless symbol of joyful shared moments worldwide.
As the world's most recognized champagne, Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut owes its enduring success to the vast diversity of Moët's vineyard holdings across hundreds of crus. The generous proportion of Pinot Noir and Meunier provides luscious fruit roundness, while Chardonnay contributes vibrant citrus freshness and elegance. It is the definitive choice for celebratory toasts, weddings, and casual gatherings, pairing effortlessly with sushi, shellfish, and light appetizers.
