About This Expression
Clase Azul Reposado Tequila is a globally celebrated luxury masterpiece, instantly recognizable for its breathtaking, hand-crafted ceramic decanter and exceptionally smooth, sweet, and vanillic flavor profile. Founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí in Jalisco, Mexico, Clase Azul was conceived with a profound cultural mission: to celebrate authentic Mexican artistry, craftsmanship, and artisanal heritage on the world's most prestigious stages. Each bottle is a unique work of art, individually sculpted, glazed, and hand-painted in cobalt blue by indigenous Mazahua artisans in the town of Santa María Canchesda.
The tequila is crafted from 100% organic Blue Weber agave grown in the sun-drenched highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco. The mineral-rich, red clay soils and high elevation of Los Altos yield agaves with exceptionally high sugar content. Clase Azul selects only mature agaves aged six to eight years. The harvested agave hearts are slow-cooked in traditional thick-walled masonry brick ovens for seventy-two hours. This slow, unhurried baking gently steams and caramelizes the agave starches into rich, sweet honey without scorching.
Following cooking, the piñas are crushed in roller mills, and the sweet aguamiel is fermented with Clase Azul's proprietary yeast strain before undergoing double distillation in traditional copper pot stills. The reposado tequila is then matured for eight full months in hand-selected, reclaimed American white oak whiskey barrels—exceeding the two-month legal minimum for reposado. During this oak maturation, the tequila absorbs sweet vanillin, caramel, and toasted wood sugars that integrate seamlessly with the cooked agave.
Clase Azul Reposado pours a glowing, warm golden amber. The nose is decadent and inviting, filled with sweet aromas of vanilla bean, candied orange peel, hazelnut, toffee, and cooked agave. On the palate, it delivers an unctuous, silky, and dessert-like mouthfeel, offering flavors of butterscotch, cinnamon, toasted almond, ripe banana, and sweet oak, followed by a long, sweet, and velvety finish that leaves no alcohol burn.
Clase Azul Reposado should be savored neat at room temperature in a wide-bowled tasting glass or snifter. It is an extraordinary sipping tequila for celebratory toasts and after-dinner enjoyment, making a wonderful pairing with chocolate desserts or roasted pork.
This bottle is a prestigious show-stopping gift for milestone celebrations, an iconic centerpiece for luxury home bars, and an unforgettable tribute to Mexican artisanal culture.
